Recreational
Recreational Grass-Roots (3U to 16U Age Groups)
The Lakeland Recreational Soccer program provides a fun and educational youth soccer league for all members of the local community. Players can sign up for either the Fall or Spring seasons or both. Our Fall season runs from August through November and our Spring season runs from March through May. The program provides all children the opportunity to learn the game in a positive, fun, and productive environment. Our volunteer coaching staff receives training and follows a specific curriculum overseen by our league director.
Advanced Recreational
Junior Academy (5U to 7U Age Groups)
Our Junior program is the first step into the Academy program. This foundation program gives young players access to a higher level of coaching, age-specific skills training, and an opportunity to participate in a higher-level environment than that of recreational soccer. The program focuses on individual skill development, instilling the love of the game, and the development of the sense of “team and teamwork” in the young player. Juniors will train with professional coaching and play in our recreational league in a productive & positive environment. All players willing to make the commitment are welcome and no player will be excluded from participation in the Junior program.
COMPETITIVE
Youth Academy (8U Age Groups)
The 8U program is the first year in the Academy program. This is a transitional year for most players who have been playing 4v4 in the recreational and junior program to 7v7 with same-gender teams. Players are selected during open tryouts. The format for these age groups is 7v7. This program will give young players a professional team coach and an introduction to a higher level of competitive environments. Players will be challenged with age-specific skills and consistently compete with other same-level teams in the Memphis area. The 8U teams may play 1-2 local tournaments per season with no travel. Player placement in the 8U Program will be determined by attitude, athleticism, and coachability. All players willing to make the commitment are encouraged to try out.
Youth Academy (9U Age Groups)
Players are selected during open tryouts. The format for these age groups is 7v7. This program will give young players a professional team coach and an introduction to a higher level of competitive environments. Players will be challenged with age-specific skills and consistently compete with other same-level teams in the Memphis area. Coaches will evaluate players throughout the season on their skill, attitude, athleticism, and ability. 9U’s may play in 1-2 local tournaments and travel 1 time per season. Player placement in the 9U Program will be determined by skill, attitude, athleticism, and ability. All players willing to make the commitment to training and a higher level of coaching are encouraged to try out.
Youth Academy (10U Age Groups)

This program will give young players a professional team coach and an introduction to a higher level of competitive environments. Players will be challenged with age-specific skills and consistently compete with other same-level teams in the Memphis area. Coaches will evaluate players throughout the season on their skill, attitude, athleticism, and ability. As players develop and are evaluated, ASA will begin training similar level players together more. ASA 10U’s may play in local tournaments and travel 1-2 times per season. Player placement in the 10U program will be determined by skill, attitude, athleticism, and ability. All players willing to make the commitment to training and a higher level of coaching are encouraged to try out.
Youth Academy (11U & 12U Age Groups)
Players are selected during open tryouts. The format for these age groups is 9v9. Coaches evaluate current and new players on their skill, attitude, athleticism, and ability. Teams are formed based on the ranked evaluations of the coaching staff. The 11U and 12U programs form teams based on skills development and teamwork, as this is an important transition age for players. If more than one team is formed the players will be divided into a 1st team and 2nd team based on ability. However, because players can develop quickly at this age the coaches will have the opportunity to move players from one team to another at any time during the season. Coaches will notify the player and parents if a move is needed during the season. 11U and 12U’s may play in local tournaments and travel 2-3 times per season. 12U teams may also participate in the TN State League for qualification into the State Cup.
Youth Academy (13U & 14U Age Groups)
Players are selected during open tryouts. The format for these age groups is 11v11. Coaches evaluate current and new players on their skill, attitude, athleticism, and ability. Teams are formed based on the ranked evaluations of the coaching staff. If more than one team is formed the players will be divided into a 1st team and 2nd team based on ability. Players can still develop at different rates at this age and coaches may have the opportunity to move players from one team to another at the end of each season. Coaches will notify the player and parents if a move is needed to benefit the player. 13U and 14U’s may play in local tournaments and travel 2-3 times per season. They may also participate in the TN State League for qualification into the State Cup.

College Placement Program
With our College Placement Program, staff members will work closely with the player in reaching out to college coaches, self-marketing, building successful communication skills, and providing a training environment to prepare a future college athlete. There will be an organized effort to showcase those players locally and in the Mid-South who are seeking the college path. Referrals to area college coaches and ID camp opportunities will also be a primary focus of the staff for those players looking to play in college. Coaches will work 1 on 1 with players during the season in helping them to reach their goals and communicate often with players giving them feedback on performance in a supportive and positive environment that will allow the player to continue to grow and be successful.
